Aluminium straws!!
ELO, Earth Land Ocean, is an aluminium reusable straw that is the perfect replacement for the plastic tubes we use today. Plastic straws are the 7th most commonly found debris found in the ocean and on land, and honestly, it is turning into a bit of a global disaster. 500,000,000 straws, count the 0's, that is 500 million, are used in the USA alone every single day. This is a massive sum that adds onto the 342 millions pounds of plastic waste we throw away every single year. It's time to make a change, and why not start with the straw?
Different straw alternatives keep popping up on Kickstarter lately, but I don't think any of them have been as nice looking as ELO. With their metallic shine, I am instantly drawn in, which I believe needs to be the case. They need to catch people's eyes as they glisten in the sunshine, so people are inclined to come over and ask, "Oh my, what is that and where can I get one?"
ELO may have just achieved something very difficult in this field... Making 'Saving the World' Cool!
