Since we launched our first Kickstarter project back in May of 2014, we never thought we would keep coming up with so many new ideas that that require funding. For those of you who have not heard of us before, we are Mia Melon and One Man Outerwear coats and jackets. We have developed hoodies, trenches, wool blended coats and jackets and the excursion jacket with the purse pocket all with waterproof and windproof breathable fabrics.
We design and produce coats and jackets that have similar performance and function features as the performance outdoor companies but we have a modern, timeless city look. No need to appear like a camper to stay warm and dry. Our outer layer is a natural fiber fabric such as cotton or wool instead of sporty or techie looking polyester or nylon.
We are pushing the boundaries of natural fibers such as wool and cotton to convert them into performance fabrics. With today's DWR (Durable Water Repellency) technology we can get water to bead off of wool and cotton just like the large performance brands do with synthetic polyester and nylon fabrics.
We have been creating reliable fashion forward coats and jackets for many years. No more touristy look when traveling (when we can again), reliable for your daily commutes, watching kids play soccer in the rain and of course, just nice and stylish to go out in anytime. We would like to think we are creating a new area in coat design, pushing the boundaries of performance, fashion and bringing value and quality to our products. Laminated to our street fabric of cotton or a wool blend is a the secret to the coats performance. The thermal membrane is windproof, waterproof and breathable but will deflect heat back towards your body. This allows for less material to accomplish the same amount of warmth compared to normal street coats. The membrane is also a wind barrier, keeping the chill out. This high tech membrane will always keep you warm and dry in the snow, wind, rain and any other elements.
DWR stands for durable water repellency and we apply this treatment to the outside of the coat. What this does, is help the water bead off the coat instead of soaking through to the membrane. the DWR is the first line of defense to mother nature.
